Synergia Energy Ltd comprises an experienced management team and operating personnel focused on responsible oil and gas production and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project development.
The Company’s primary focus is its Cambay oil and gas field development, onshore India and associated CCS project. We also seek additional opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
Located in the prolific Cambay Basin, the Cambay Asset is currently the most significant component of the Company’s portfolio, covering 161 km² (~40,000 acres) in Gujarat State, the industrial heartland of India. The Cambay field is a currently producing asset with gas and gas condensate production being exported to local markets.
The geology in the Cambay Asset is proven to contain hydrocarbons in the Miocene, Oligocene and Eocene zones. Over 70 wells have been drilled on the field with cumulative gas production of over 104 BCF. 36 wells have penetrated the Eocene formation, a tight silt stone section with 16 vertical wells testing oil and gas to surface. The contract area is covered by a high quality 3D seismic survey acquired by Synergia Energy in 2007.
On 1 August 2024, Synergia and Selan Exploration Limited executed a farm-out agreement whereby Synergia would be carried by Selan on a $20 million work program to be completed in 18 months in exchange for Synergia transferring a 50% working interest in the Cambay PSC to Selan.
Following Antelopus Selan’s failure to complete the Sale and Purchase Agreement to purchase Synergia’s 50% Cambay PSC working interest, the Company has abandoned its plans to sell its working interest to Selan
The Medway Hub Camelot CCS project is centred on the Camelot field in the Southern North Sea where Synergia Energy and its JV partner, Harbour Energy have an NSTA carbon storage license, license number CS019.
The project comprises the transportation of CO2 emissions from coastal CCGT power stations and from continental European carbon hubs in liquid form by marine tanker to a Floating Injection, Storage and Offloading vessel (FISO) from which the CO2 would be injected into the Camelot depleted gas field and the overlying Bunter saline aquifer.
The CCS project is contemplated to be a merchant scheme whereby emitters would pay for the transportation and storage of CO2 under long-term contracts, instead of incurring the cost of carbon allowances.
The CCS project is subject to contracts with carbon emitters, regulatory approvals and funding.
In June 2026 Synergia participated in an NSTA-hosted Legacy Well Integrity workshop. Two legacy wells which were abandoned in open hole by the then operator over 50 years ago are believed to present an unacceptable CO2 leakage risk. Consequently, Synergia and its JV partner, Harbour Energy, plan to request a relinquishment of the CS019 Camelot carbon storage licence.
The basis of the Cambay CCs Scheme is the presence of the extensive Olpad Formation. The Olpad underlies the historically producing oil and gas reservoirs on the Cambay PSC, having a depth of between 2000 to 3000 meters. Synergia believe the Olpad represents an excellent CO2 storage reservoir in that it extends well beyond the Cambay PSC license area.
The Cambay PSC is also surrounded by a multitude of major CO2 emitters, primarily coal- and gas-fired power stations. Other CO2 emitters such as cement works and refineries are also candidates for carbon sequestration at Cambay.
Currently Synergia is working with the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons to develop a proof-of-concept Pilot Project on the Cambay PSC.
